School of the Future officially opened in Tanzania

14. April 2025

An important milestone for help alliance: the ‘School of the Future’ was officially opened in Arusha, Tanzania. This ambitious educational project, which was realized in cooperation with Miles & More, Edelweiss Air and numerous other partners, is one of the most important projects in the history of help alliance. The opening ceremony was attended by over 150 participants, including parents, a local government representative and representatives from Miles & More, help alliance and the Lufthansa Group. The importance of the school for the local community was emphasized in moving speeches. The children of the school also enriched the event with traditional dances and songs and organized a fashion show.

Over 80 children have been enrolled since January, and more are enrolling every week. As the construction work for some areas of the school has not yet been completed, students are being admitted in stages. The school has a total capacity for 850 children.

A vision becomes reality

The idea for the ‘School of the Future’ was born seven years ago with the aim of providing children from disadvantaged backgrounds with a comprehensive and practical education. In addition to modern classrooms, the school also has a school garden, a learning kitchen and special workshops for practical learning. It is much more than an educational facility: it symbolizes hope, opportunities and change for the children in Arusha.

Africa as the focus of help alliance

Africa plays a central role in the work of help alliance. In 2025, 28 of the 74 development and community projects worldwide will run on the African continent. This means that around a quarter of the total support budget will flow into these projects with a focus on education and work & income to promote the educational development of children and young people and prepare young people for the labor market.
