Lufthansa Group architects plan innovative community café in India
As part of a social construction project in India, architects from Lufthansa Group Real Estate Management helped the local project partner develop a groundbreaking concept for a community café. This café will serve as a new social meeting place and important point of contact for the local community.
The Community Café is designed as a holistic, flexible space: on the ground floor, there will be a socio-cultural café and meeting place that offers space for encounters, cultural events and community activities. The upper floor is intended for psychosocial counseling, creative workshops and artistic activities that promote community and support local talent. The aim is to create an environment that strengthens social bonds while also offering space for individual development.
A particular focus of the planning is on integrating the principles of Vastu Shastra, a traditional Indian teaching on the harmonious design of buildings. These architectural approaches connect the building with the laws of nature and create an atmosphere that promotes well-being and a sense of community. The planning of the café thus not only draws on modern architectural solutions, but also respects and integrates local cultural traditions.
The project’s visual identity includes a specially developed, characteristic brickwork that serves as a recognition feature and is to be used again in future construction projects. This design strengthens the visual unity of all social facilities in the community.
The expansion of the existing school to include the community café will create added value for the community, offering long-term prospects for local families. The café will thus become a vibrant place of support and encounter that makes a lasting contribution to the common good that goes beyond architecture.
