Lufthansa Airbus takes off with “Helping Hands” special livery
As a highlight and in recognition of the 25th anniversary of help alliance, the Lufthansa Group is sending a widely visible sign of solidarity: a Lufthansa Airbus A321neo, registered D-AIEP, is now taking off with a special “Helping Hands” livery. With numerous colorful handprints symbolically donated by supporters, the Airbus is now flying on Lufthansa’s continental route network and stands for 25 years of commitment, hope and joint efforts for a better future. The donations will be used to fund help alliance projects that support disadvantaged children and young people around the world.
“I would like to thank all the supporters who have made this anniversary project possible,” said Jens Ritter, CEO of Lufthansa Airlines, at the presentation of the help alliance aircraft in Frankfurt. “Your support and commitment are at the heart of everything that makes help alliance what it is. In a world where many of our neighbors are affected by social injustice, help alliance is a shining example of how we as Lufthansa Group can act with a positive impact.”
Another “Helping Hands aircraft” at Edelweiss
The “Helping Hands aircraft” made its maiden flight on December 7, 2024 from Berlin to Frankfurt. From there, it now flies on Lufthansa Airline’s continental route network. This makes it the second ambassador of the help alliance in the Lufthansa Group: Edelweiss has had a ‘Helping Hands aircraft’ in operation since September 2022.
The design of the aircraft was implemented with the utmost precision by the Graphics Solutions department at Lufthansa Technik. The sticker foils for the ‘help alliance’ lettering and the colorful handprints, which were printed and cut to size in Hamburg, were applied to both sides of the aircraft and to the Sharklets in Berlin. Each handprint represents a donation to help alliance projects that support disadvantaged children and young people worldwide.
The 297 handprints on the A321neo are part of a fundraising campaign in which supporters can symbolically leave their handprint on the aircraft. Two thirds of all hands have already been allocated, but there are still a few available. This means there is still an opportunity to become part of this special project and make a visible contribution to a better future.
