25 years of help alliance – we’re celebrating!
A quarter of a century of commitment to young people - we have achieved a lot
help alliance is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and we are pleased to pay tribute to the many years of commitment and work of our aid organization and the people behind it. In the coming weeks, we will be highlighting the history of help alliance in a series of informative, touching and inspiring articles. We will also show what opportunities there are to become active in help alliance and thus part of the future journey.
For 25 years, help alliance’s vision has been to enable young people around the world to have a self-determined future. Founded in 1999 by 13 Lufthansa Airline colleagues to pool the voluntary commitment of many individual employees, help alliance has developed into a driving force and a central pillar of the social commitment of the entire Lufthansa Group. With a focus on education, training and work, it currently creates future prospects for children, teenagers and young adults in over 60 projects in 29 countries together with competent local partners and thanks to the strengths of the Lufthansa Group.
True to the motto “Closer to the world. Closer to its people.” 4.3 million euros were donated to the projects last year – more than ever before! More than 60,000 children, teenagers and young adults were supported worldwide: 31,000 children were able to go to school, more than 3,000 young people received education and training or took part in workshops and training courses and 462 men and women were successfully integrated into the job market. This shows that the work of help alliance has a direct and lasting impact on the lives of people in need.
Look forward to a journey through the last 25 years of ‘Help for young people’ – and check back regularly!
